Help us to verify your identity

Opening a thinkmoney Current Account couldn’t be simpler, but before we can open your account we need documentation to prove your identity and where you live.

If you've had problems in the past finding paperwork for a high street bank, don't let this put you off! In most cases, we can do it all electronically - so you might not need any documents at all.

Occasionally though, we do need to see some paperwork. If we've asked you to provide two forms of identification, you'll need to choose one document from each column below.

IMPORTANT: All documentation you provide must show your FULL first name, not just initials - e.g John Smith, not J. Smith.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • We can only accept original documents – but we will send you a Special Delivery envelope, paid for by us, to ensure your documents are tracked, insured and guaranteed to arrive with us the next working day.
  • Proof of who you are and where you live must be from different sources - for example, a Tax Notification Letter can’t be used alongside a Child Benefit Letter as they are both issued by HMRC.
  • Documents showing an expiry date must still be valid (for Driving Licences check section 4b on photocard).
  • If you’re using a multi-page document such as a bank statement, please send all pages.
  • Your address must appear exactly as it does on your letters from us. If your address is incorrect on our letters, please contact us; if it is registered incorrectly with the Royal Mail, please contact them directly.
