How to open an account via the app

Opening a thinkmoney account is even easier in the app. You can be set up in minutes, anytime, anywhere. Follow our quick guide on how to open an account through the app.

Download the app

Register for an account

Once you’ve downloaded the app, you’ll need to enter a few details and set up the security features.

1. Enter your email address and mobile number

2. Enter your one-time passcode – We’ll send this to you once you complete Step 1 to verify it’s you.

3. Choose a passcode – Create your own to securely sign in. There will also be the option for you to sign in with touch ID or face recognition.

4. Re-enter the passcode you created in Step 3

5. Enter some personal details – Including your name, date of birth and nationality.

6. Enter your address - You may be asked for a previous address if you haven’t lived at your current address for 3 years or more.

Activate your account

You now have a thinkmoney account and your card and PIN are on the way. You could wait for your card to arrive to activate your card and account. Or, if you want to start managing your finances right away to get your income(s) set up, transfer money in or out, set up your Direct Debits/standing orders, and more, you can activate your account via the app.

For instant access to your account, provide identification by following these steps:

  • Take a photo of your ID and take a selfie to prove it is you. Some examples of ID we accept are passport, driving license and EU National Identity Card. For the full list click here.
  • Enter your income and employment details
  • Create a username and password

Activate your card

If you haven’t activated your account via the app, you can do so when your card arrives. All you need to do is:

  • In the app, enter the last four digits of your card number
  • Click 'Activate card'
  • Enjoy your thinkmoney account

On some occasions, there may be a few additional steps to complete the application process. For example, you may need to provide 2 forms of identification, or you may need to send your ID to us in a pre-paid envelope.
