Professional beauty treatments can cost a small fortune, and even the lotions and potions you can buy in the shops often don’t come cheap. But you don’t have to spend loads, instead, why not introduce a few of our beauty hacks into your regime – all of which are wallet friendly.

1. Deep conditioner

Instead of splashing out on top of the range hair treatments, olive oil works just as well. Just heat it up in the microwave so that it’s warm and apply it to your dry hair. Wrap your hair tightly in a towel or shower cap and sit with it in for about half an hour. After this, you’ll need to rinse and shampoo your hair a few times to get the oil out but you should be left with thicker, softer-feeling hair by the end of it!

2. Teeth whitening

Baking soda is your new best friend. There are lots of ways that you can use baking soda, but one of the most raved-about is as a teeth-whitener. So to achieve a Hollywood smile, mix half a teaspoon of baking soda with half a teaspoon of water and mix until it forms a paste. Dip your toothbrush into it and begin to brush your teeth. Don’t do this for any longer than two minutes though, as baking soda can start to erode the enamel on your teeth if used excessively.

At the start of the process you can do this every second day but after a few weeks you should start to reign this in to just once or twice a week.

3. Exfoliating scrub

Body scrubs can be quite expensive, so save your cash and whip one up at home. All you’ll need is a cup of brown sugar, a cup of raw oatmeal and a cup of trusty olive oil. Mix this together and apply to your dry skin with your hands. Apply it in slow circles and rinse off in the shower – your skin should feel silky soft in minutes!

4. D.I.Y Facial

To give yourself a facial that’ll make you feel as though you’ve stepped right out of a spa, pick up an avocado, some plain yogurt and honey on your next shop (check the bargain bins before you pay full price).

Then grab a bowl and mix half an avocado with half a cup of yogurt and a quarter cup of honey, until completely mixed. Pin your hair back and apply the mixture evenly to your face, then leave for 10 minutes. Wipe off with a cloth and rinse with water. Your face really should feel ‘as soft as a baby’s bottom’ once you’re done!

If you’ve any leftover, cover it and put in the fridge – it should be ok for a few days.

5. Tame your frizzy hair

Dealing with frizzy hair is a pain, so why not make this battle a little easier by trying out a nourishing hair mask? You just need to mix a banana and half an avocado together and comb the resulting paste through your dry hair (as it’s more absorbent than wet hair). Once you’ve done this, cover your hair with a shower cap and occupy yourself for 10 minutes, then rinse. Repeating this treatment regularly should help you to gain control of your frizzy hair once and for all!

6. Brighten up your eyes

Don’t pay a fortune for eye creams - parsley could be the answer to your prayers. All you need to do is put 2 tablespoons of yogurt and a handful of fresh parsley into a food processor and mix this until it forms into a smooth paste. Apply the paste to your undereye area, being careful to avoid any contact with your eyes, and leave for 20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. You’ll feel like a new woman afterwards!
