Autumn/Winter 2016: The best high-street pieces for women
Published 14 September 2016 by Kyri Levendi
You don't have to spend a fortune to get your wardrobe autumn-ready.
The high street is the central hub for all things fashion. Whether that means browsing while doing your weekly shop or on a lazy Saturday afternoon, you can always find a bargain.
To ease you into the new autumn/winter season, we're taking you through the very best autumn pieces that the high street has to offer from budget retailer Primark, supermarket Tesco and fashion-forward H&M.
All of the pieces we've chosen cost less than £30 each so you don't have to worry about paying over the odds.*
Primark's autumn/winter 2016 is typical of the brand – they manage to recreate classic catwalk pieces in budget form. It was tricky to whittle down our picks to just a few, but these are some of our favourite.
If there's one thing that you're going to be seeing a lot this season, it's the pinafore dress. This wine pinafore dress is on-trend with its deep maroon colour and will look effortlessly stylish worn over a jumper or tee. At just £10, it's a no-brainer!
Wrap up this autumn with a longline coat like this from Primark. It features a grey check design (which is everywhere at the moment) and long slouchy pockets, perfect for keeping your hands warm as the weather starts to change.
This is slightly more expensive at £28, but is a piece you can wear time and time again.
Embrace the dark side this season, by picking up a pair of black vamp court heels from Primark. There's always room in your wardrobe for a shoe that can take you from day to night, and this one can certainly do that.
It won't cost you much to try out this new trend – you can pick up this pair for just £10.
F&F at Tesco have an eclectic range for this autumn/winter season featuring boho trends, budget denim and knitwear – take a look at some of our favourite pieces.
Embroidery is everywhere this season and has met its perfect match in denim. Take these floral embroidered mid-rise jeans, for example – they're sleek, slouchy and incredibly chic with their floral design.
For just £20, you can nab yourself a designer dupe!
Want to try something a little more subtle? You could ease yourself into the embroidery trend with this floral embroidered swing jumper. Its delicate design makes it the perfect statement piece – and it's only £22!
Whether you're heading out for the evening or sprucing up your work wardrobe, this oriental floral print midi dress could work wonders. It features an intricate oriental print, high neckline and cinched in waist – all characteristics of a steal-the-show dress.
It looks much more expensive than its £20 price tag and is getting good reviews online!

To finish off our high-street round up, we're taking a look at what H&M has to offer. The retailer hasn't released its full range yet but we've managed to find a few autumnal pieces that are worth a look.
Cover up in style for the upcoming season in this striped ribbed dress from H&M. The multi-coloured design features warm colours of orange, pink and red and cheeky slits in the sides. Wear with platform flats for an effortless look.
At just £24.99, this dress is an investment piece that will take you through the seasons.
Pretty in pink
Blush pink is a big trend for this autumn, so why not style it out with this turtleneck top from H&M. It features a flattering turtleneck design in soft jersey – what more could you ask for just £12.99!
The bomber is certainly the jacket of the season – it's casual, comfortable and cool. H&M offer a number of different ones but our favourite is this navy bomber jacket. It features light padding, front pickets and a gold zip.
Pair with a floral dress and white trainers for the perfect sports luxe look. It's good value at £29.99.
