Since its first release in 1993 FIFA Football has gone on to sell more than 100 million copies worldwide making it the best-selling sports video game ever. This year brings some interesting new features to entice fans eagerly awaiting its release.

Lionel Messi, who graced the cover of the game for the last three years has been replaced with Marco Reus of Borussia Dortmund, after fans voted for him ahead of Antony Martial of Manchester United, Eden Hazard of Chelsea and James Rodriguez of Real Madrid.

With the release of FIFA 17 today, we take you through its features and where you can get it for the best price!*

What platforms is it released on?

FIFA 17 is being released simultaneously on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox 360 meaning that fans with both the latest and older consoles can play. However, only newer machines will get the latest “Frostbite" – a game engine that improves the playability of the game.

Hard-core fans may decide that it makes more sense to sell their old console and upgrade to the latest one, as there are some affordable bundles on sale that include FIFA 17. If you do, it could be worth taking out gadget insurance.

New features

With each annual release, fans are excited to get hold of the latest copy and see the updated player transfers, managers and kits. These mimic the start of the real football season that kicked off on 13th August. Beyond this, EA Sports, the game’s maker, say they have made tweaks to improve the gaming experience.

Major changes include a “Journey Mode” that allows gamers to play the role of a young player named Alex Hunter and bring him through the ranks. There is the ability to get heavily involved in Alex’s playing career, by controlling how he talks to his manager, reacts to defeats, red cards and potential pitfalls such as loan spells. Other features include better player interaction and control of moves, with a new feel to free kicks, corners, penalties and throw-ins.

But where can you get hold of FIFA 17 at a good price? Here we outline the best offers for the newest models Xbox One and PlayStation 4 . Don’t forget, you could get a console bundle that will include the game if you’re planning to upgrade – so look around.
