With retailers like Next and John Lewis offering up to 75% off in the Boxing Day sales, millions of shoppers will be hitting the stores to grab the best bargains. Last year, shoppers spent a whopping £2.7 billion online and in-store on December 26th, and that number is expected to grow in 2014. It’s a brilliant opportunity to save yourself some money, and here’s where to find the best bargains:


Next is famous for its sales, and Boxing Day is no different – they offer huge discounts to clear out their stock and it includes clothing and home ware. They usually open their doors at 6am, with customers queuing around the block to grab the best discounts, so you need to get there early.

John Lewis has a “never knowingly undersold policy”, which means that they always match the prices of other high street retailers. On Black Friday John Lewis said “If our competitors are having a sale, so are we” - if this is anything to go by, there will be some great deals to be had on Boxing Day too!


Last year, customers we’re queuing from 11.30pm on Christmas Day in London for the Boxing Day sale that kicked off at 9am the next day. People travelled from all over the world just to grab a designer deal, so you can expect the same from them this year, with handbags and clothes flying off the shelves in no time!

Boxing Day 2013 was the busiest day ever for online retailers in the UK, with consumers making 129 million visits to retail websites, snapping up great deals without leaving the sofa. Many online shops now offer the same brilliant deals that you’d expect to get in-store, and they sometimes start the sale on Christmas Day itself.
