Some people will tell you that there's a 'best time' to buy electricals in the year. Though this may be true, retailers of electricals, appliances and gadgets are constantly competing with one another - so there are always offers available.

This week, Helen has searched for deals, discounts and offers on electricals. All prices were correct on 18.03.13, and may or may not include postage and packaging.

Kitchen appliances

You can save £170 on this Hoover washing machine (with an A+ energy rating) at Currys. It was £449.99 and it's now £279.99. While you're there, this Hotpoint dishwasher with an A energy rating was £399.99 and is now £249.99 - saving you £150.

For your morning coffee, this silver Bosch 'multi beverage' machine was £120 and is now £59.99 from Sainsbury's.

To make your food preparation that bit quicker and easier, this Kenwood food processor from Debenhams is £30 (down from £55).

This Breville halogen fryer from Argos lets you fry, cook, bake, sauté and roast more healthily. It's £129.99 down from £149.99 - that's a saving of £20.

If you're the kind of person who fancies a 'stylish' kettle, this red stainless steel Breville one from House of Fraser is £25, half price from £50.

Have you ever looked at your toaster and thought: 'It's good - but I wish it cooked beans and eggs too'? If you have, this Tefal Toast 'n' Egg 'n' Beans toaster is £37.97 - down from £39.99 at Argos.

Home electricals

This upright bagless Hoover is half price from Sainsbury's - down to £99.99 from £199.99 (save £100).

If you're thinking of upgrading your TV, this 50 inch HD Panasonic set with Freeview from Very is down from £629 to £449 - saving you £180.

For those who like to measure and track their weight over time, these USB scales from Firebox store your data - which you then put onto your computer via USB if you wish. You can look through you readings and set goals for yourself too. They're 35.99 down from £59.99.

Gadgets & small electricals

If you've ever wanted your home phone to be a bit more retro, this Sixties digital cordless phone from ASDA is £79, down from £100.

iPhone owners who want a bit more battery power in their phones might like this emergency smart charger from You can click it onto your handset and it charges your phone while you're out and about. It's £7.95, down from £9.95.

Keep your hair in check for less with these Toni & Guy infusion straighteners from Boots. They're down to £39.99 from £79.99.

If you pay £379.95 for this Samsung NX1000 compact system HD camera at John Lewis, you'll get a 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 for free.

At Woolworths, you can get a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone for £279 instead of £349 (save £70).

The kids (or big kids) might enjoy this red Angry Bird mini speaker from Woolworths. It's been reduced by £10 from £29 to £19.

Cashback on electricals

You could save a little bit more money on these deals by using these cashback offers from Quidco (found on 12.03.13):

  • 7% on all televisions over £599 at Curry's - 1.5% for all other sales
  • 2% on home electricals from Tesco
  • 3.5% for new customer electricals at Boots
