Transfer money to your Card

You tell us that you love the way we budget so that the money you need for your bills is kept separate from your spending money. But life's never predictable and from time to time you need to access your bills money.

That's why:

We'll be launching a new version of Online Account Management and our App that will enable you to transfer money to your Card directly. You'll be able to make transfers – which will be instant – 24/7.

It'll even help you re-budget to ensure that you'll still be able to pay all the bills you've told us about.

More Online and App Functionality

Nowadays most people prefer to manage their money via their mobile - so we are making it even easier to do so:

We're adding to the services you can access via Online Account Management and the thinkmoney App.

And, if you use our App, we'll keep in touch with "push notification" as well as text messages.

We'll be adding "Future Budgeting" into the App as well as the ability to make transfers from your salary account to your card.

Faster, Faster Payments

With the new thinkmoney, Faster Payments will be just that! The money should arrive within two hours (although it usually takes just a few minutes). And the same is true for Faster Payments into your own account - they should arrive soon after they're sent.

Whether you are making or receiving a Faster Payment, you'll know it should arrive within minutes.

Hello Post Office, goodbye RBS and Natwest

Last October we teamed up with the Post Office to enable you to pay in and withdraw cash at Post Office counters. Soon, you'll also be able to pay in cheques at the Post Office too. There are over 11,000 locations across the UK, so there should be one that's convenient for you.

Once our upgrade is up and running, we'll no longer be offering our services at RBS and NatWest branches.

Statements and correspondence online

You've told us that you don't want to get statements and other correspondence from us in the post any more.

You'll soon be able to opt into getting your statements and other correspondence electronically straight into your Online Account Management inbox.

If you prefer to get your statements by post you'll still be able to do this.

Your statements will come directly from thinkmoney.

We've also redesigned them to make them easier to read and understand.

We'll be adding additional security features to Online Account Management. We'll ask you to enter a code that we'll text to you to confirm before we'll complete some transactions, like setting up new Faster Payments.

We know you rely on being able to access your money 24/7, 365 days a year. That's why we're investing in a new and improved system to help ensure we can provide the level of service you expect.

Helping you build your credit history

Once we've upgraded your Personal Account, thinkmoney will have its own sort code (don't worry, we'll automatically update all of your incomes and outgoings, so there's no need for you to do anything).

We'll be reporting to the credit reference agencies each month, showing that you have an active bank account.

Cheque clearance times

As we've mentioned, once your account has been upgraded, you'll be able to pay in cheques at the Post Office. When you do, you'll be able to withdraw your money slightly faster.

Cheques paid in at the Post Office will be available to withdraw after 7 working days compared to 8 days at the moment.

Helping you make the most of your account

Keep a look out for a brand new Help and Support section launching on the thinkmoney website very soon.

Unsure of how to do something on your account? Just visit the new section and search for what you need. We've added hundreds of FAQs and will be updating the pages regularly.

Changes to the way we protect your money

As a result of the improvements we are making to your thinkmoney Personal Account this year there is a change to how the money in your account is protected.

Money you hold in your thinkmoney Personal Account will no longer be protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

However, as thinkmoney is authorised and regulated by the FCA as an e-money institution, your money will continue to be protected and, unlike the FSCS, this protection is not limited to a certain amount.

This means that if something were to happen to thinkmoney, your money is held separately and securely meaning you would always receive it back.

When's all this happening?

We'll soon be ready to launch the "new" thinkmoney to new customers - you will see details of some of these changes appear on our website.

A few months later we'll automatically upgrade all our existing customers to the new service too.

Don't worry, you won't have to do a thing, we'll take care of everything and you can continue to use your account as normal throughout the transition.

As we get closer to launching these exciting new features, we'll be sending you more details - so keep a look out for a weekly email from us with more information. To make all this happen there will be some changes to your Terms and Conditions, so we'll soon be giving you two months' notice of those too.
