Helen's purrfect pet deals

Published 5 July 2013 by

Whether you're a thinkmoney customer or not, you might have spotted our new advert on the telly. It stars an array of furry and funny critters - from Chihuahuas and cats to a cheeky coati (pictured). If you've not seen it yet, you can watch it online here (be warned if you're scared of snakes or tarantulas!).

The release of this new advert has made us all a bit pet-mad at the thinkmoney offices. That's why, this week, I've been looking far and wide for lots of pet deals and offers. Whether your non-human family members are warm or cold blooded, you might be able to find food, treats, toys and accommodation for them for less.

As always, deals were correct on 05.07.13, but prices or offers could've changed since them. Prices quoted in this article may or may not include VAT, postage and packaging. Always read the instructions before giving anything to your pets (as they can't read for themselves).

Food and treats

There are loads of pet food offers available at Pet Supermarket at the moment, including 15% off Royal Canin for small, medium and large dogs - and 20% off Royal Canin for cats and kittens.

You can buy pet food for just £1 from Poundland, including brands like Wagg and Go-Cat.

Pets At Home is doing a three-for-£6 offer on a range of 'creepy crawlies' to feed to reptiles, including crickets, mealworms, hoppers and locusts. Yum.

If you're after vegetarian pet food, you can buy five packs of vegan food for small dogs and save £5 at

For 10% off natural and holistic dog food, type the code summerloving when you check out at Croft Online. I'm not sure when this expires, so it's probably best to use the code sooner rather than later.

Pet housing

Buy this bunny hutch and run bundle for £140 from Wilko and save £20 (compared with buying them both individually).

Save £5 on this 'hamster starter kit' from Argos. It was £29.99 and is now £24.99. It comes with a cage, wheel, water bottle, hamster living pod, two ladders, a food bowl, a mezzanine floor and bedding. Hamster sold separately.

This durable cat den - which can be used both in and outside - is now £39.90 (was £69.90) from zooplus.

This terrarium from seapets is suitable for small species of snakes, lizards, frogs and geckos. The RRP is £99.99 - but it currently costs £78.95.

There are some quite hefty discounts on dog kennels and travel accessories at I like this 'classic' wooden kennel for £49.99 (reduced from £144.99). That saves you nearly £100!

In the summer sale at Cages World, there's up to 50% off the RRP on selected cages for a range of animals - big and small. I have the Liberta Happy House for my two degus (look them up). It's massive and they absolutely love it. It's currently reduced to £125.99 from £149.99.

Toys and accessories

There's 3 for 2 on selected dog toys and accessories at Pets At Home, including soft toys, balls, collars, chew rings, Frisbees, training aids and more.

While you're at Pets At Home, there's also 20% off selected products for small pets. This includes things like cages, ladders, tubes, bedding, bowls, harnesses, toys, dens, cleaning products, racks and toys.

At, there's currently 30% off cat toys and 15% off dog toys.

This FroliCat BOLT shines laser patterns onto surfaces in your home - encouraging your cat to pounce, hunt and play. It's £11.92 from VetUK.

Give your cat hours of fun (and a good hiding place) with this stacking box playground from zooplus. It's £26.90 down from £39.90, and is made up of six-sided boxes that you can put together in different formations.

At, this 'plastic dog tornado' is £14.99 instead of £26.99 (a 44% saving). Your dog has to turn the revolving sections to reveal hidden treats. I know I'd enjoy watching my dog trying to figure it out!

If you ever get bored of the conventional hamster ball, try this hamster racer for £19.99 from Firebox. It makes it look like your hamster is driving a little car!

And if you've got just over two grand lying around, why not splash out on this dog treadmill? It's also from Firebox and costs 'only' £2,535. Great for the lazy dog owner or (on a more serious note) dogs that need rehabilitation.
