Samba fever is sure to set the world alight, as Rio de Janeiro, famous for its beaches, colourful carnivals and party atmosphere, becomes the latest Olympic host city. It only seems like yesterday when London made us proud as hosts, and now the spotlight turns to Brazil.
The opening ceremony will be beamed live on our TVs on Friday the 5th August: expect a vibrant and colourful spectacle which will no doubt set the tone for two weeks of fantastic sport.
There’s every possibility that this could be Great Britain’s best ever Olympic medal haul, surpassing that of London four years ago. Keep a look out for medal hopefuls Adam Peaty in the 100m breaststroke as well as Alistair Brownlee in Triathlon.
Nicola Adams, the first woman in history to win an Olympic gold medal for boxing, will be aiming to repeat her London success. Also, get the Mo-bot ready as Mo Farah is chasing a double gold again. And what about Jessica Ennis Hill, who took time out to become a mum, can she shine again at Rio in the gruelling Heptathlon?
