  • Whatever your credit history, we'll say 'Yes'
  • Practical help when you've had problems

What are bad credit bank accounts?

If you've got a bad credit history, you may have been turned down for current accounts already. There are bad credit bank accounts that exist to help people in your situation, as they're open to almost anyone who's run into problems and damaged their credit rating - but bad credit bank accounts aren't your only option.

We offer an account that's a practical alternative to a bad credit bank account. People with all kinds of credit histories can apply - once we've confirmed all the necessary details, we can normally approve an application within minutes and have your account up and running soon after.

Our account isn't just there to help people with bad credit, though. It's so much more than that.

The thinkmoney Personal Account is there to help you budget, it's there to help you make sure all your regular financial commitments are met every month... but more importantly, it's there to give you peace of mind. The peace of mind that comes from knowing that you'll never miss a payment. All you have to do is keep us up to date about all your outgoings - and of course, make sure there's enough paid in!

Are bad credit bank accounts basic?

Bad credit bank accounts are also known as basic bank accounts. And just as the name suggests, they offer just the 'basic' features you'd expect from a bank account.

That's not what we offer at thinkmoney: we're not a bank, and our account is far from basic.

For instance, our account comes with expert Money Managers who really get to know you and your finances - and do everything they can to help you get your bills paid on time, every time.

So even though people with bad credit can apply, that certainly doesn't mean there's anything basic about the service you'll receive from us.

The thinkmoney Personal Account - what do you get?

Our account is packed full of great features to help you remain in full control of your finances, at all times.

Take our Money Manager service, for example. A team of dedicated in-house experts handling your finances for you. Every month, when your salary is paid into your account, they'll set aside enough money to meet all the regular financial commitments you've informed us about.

Once your essential costs have been covered, they'll transfer the remaining money from your Salaries Account into your Card Account - which you can access with your thinkmoney Prepaid Debit MasterCard®.

So it's not like a typical prepaid card. You won't have to load any money onto it yourself: it's all part of the service.

Our Money Managers aren't just there to move money around, though. If you need to make a change to your account, for example, or talk about your finances, our Money Managers will be on hand to deal with your requests and answer any questions you may have.

We understand the importance of having someone there for you when you need them.

We also understand the importance of convenience, and that's why we make sure you can manage your account the way you want to, whether that's online, over the phone, by SMS - or a mixture of all three!

All that for just £14.50 per month - or £21.25 for a joint account.

Rapid approval process - even with a bad credit history

Our account is an account with no credit checks, so having bad credit won't get in your way anymore.

At thinkmoney, applying for an account with bad credit isn't a problem... in most cases, we can approve your application and open your account as soon as you've proven your identity - and that you're a UK resident aged 18 or over. It's as simple as that.

Don't let bad credit hold you back - apply for one of our accounts today.
