Asda has relaunched its £1 Winter Warmer offer

The weather is getting colder and the days are getting shorter, so we’re all looking for ways to get cosy without spending a fortune. For those aged 60 or over, Asda might have the answer. It’s just relaunched its Winter Warmer offer, which comes with a hot meal and a drink for just £1.

When’s the offer taking place?

The deal runs from 1 November until the end of February in all 212 Asda cafés across the UK.

What’s included as part of the offer?

You can order the following for £1 at any of Asda’s cafés:

• a bowl of tomato or chicken soup served with bread

And

• unlimited tea or coffee

This initiative first started in 2022 to help older customers cope with rising living costs. It’s now back for its fourth year. Last winter alone, Asda served more than 500,000 £1 meals.

Soup as a way to tackle loneliness

Asda hopes the offer will do more than providing a cheap meal deal. It also aims to bring people together. Many older shoppers say supermarkets are one of the few places they get to chat with others. In fact, Asda’s research found that 1 in 10 people over 60 weren’t sure they’d speak to anyone between mid-December and New Year.

By creating a cosy space, Asda wants to help reduce loneliness while offering a budget-friendly way to stay warm.

Jordan Cummings, who manages cafés and concessions at Asda, explained: “We know this winter will be tough for many pensioners. Bringing back Winter Warmers gives people a chance to enjoy a hot meal and a friendly chat without worrying about the cost.”
