Money Saving Tips

There's nothing better than discovering a new TV show. No matter the genre, you can escape for a few hours to laugh or cry along with your favourite characters.

The only problem once you're hooked is the wait between seasons – something fans of the popular HBO series Game of Thrones will know all too well. But the agonising wait will soon be over for fans of FOX's The Walking Dead which returns to UK screens on 24 October.

Can't wait for the box set to see what happens to Rick and his friends? We're going to take you through the cheapest ways you can watch The Walking Dead Season 7.

Television subscription

To watch The Walking Dead in the UK, you'll need to have the FOX channel included as part of a subscription with Sky or Virgin Media. If you already have this, no need to do anything else! You'll be able to watch the new series live every Monday or catch up with episodes using the relevant catch up services.

Not a customer? You can sign up to Sky's Original Bundle for £20 a month, and FOX is included as one of the 270 channels you get. Keep in mind, you'll need to pay a £10 set up fee and subscribe for 12 months with this package.

Tempted by Sky Q? We take you through its features and the budget friendly alternatives to Sky Q here.

With Virgin Media, FOX is included in its Mix Bundle along with 150+ other channels. This bundle costs £18 a month for 12 months. For this price, you'll receive the TV package, SuperFibre 50 broadband and Talk Weekends – unlimited weekend calls to UK landlines and Virgin Mobile numbers.

If you're already a customer of TalkTalk, you might be able to stream The Walking Dead Season 7 for a small extra cost. With the TalkTalk Plus or TalkTalk Essentials TV packages, you can add an Entertainment Boost for £3.50, and £6 a month (for a period of 18 months) respectively.

Streaming services

You’re probably thinking signing up to a television service is a bit steep if you’re only looking to get one extra channel – unless you were thinking of upgrading your TV anyway.

Another option is to sign up to a streaming based service like Now TV. You can sign up to the Entertainment Month Pass and grab a 14 day free trial before paying £6.99 a month. With this, you'll get access to 11 channels including FOX and Sky Atlantic for Game of Thrones fans, and enjoy over 250 box sets on demand.

The benefit of this type of service is that there's no contract so once The Walking Dead finishes, you can just end your subscription if you choose to. You don't need a box set to sign up to this subscription either.

Prefer to wait and watch the season all in one go? You should be able to get The Walking Dead Season 7 through Amazon Prime Instant Video, but not as part of your subscription. You can pay per episode or season. Based on the prices for Season 6, you could pay around £1.89 per episode or £19.99 for the entire season.

You can buy The Walking Dead Season 6 through iTunes and Google Play Movies & TV for £24.99 each – so you could expect to pay a similar price for the new season too.
