There are now a whole load of ways to pay without using cash, with contactless being one of the most widely used in the UK. In recent years, debit cards have overtaken cash as the most used way of paying, and in 2019, 51% of all payments were made using cards. In the same time, contactless payments rose by 16% and cash payments fell by 58% from the year before. Cashless payments are particularly popular with younger people, as 7.4 million said they go about their lives without using cash.
Here we look at all the ways of sending and receiving money without needing to use cash.
