Issues fixed with Faster Payments and transfers from salary to card

Bills & Payments

We are aware that some customers experienced intermittent issues when they were trying to make online payments through Online Account Management (OAM) or the App. This type of payment is known as a Faster Payment.

We also know that certain customers have had problems transferring money from their salary to card via our online services. We are pleased to say that we have fixed both these issues and all customers should be able to send Faster Payments and make transfers to their card as normal.

How to send a Faster Payment

You can send a Faster Payment using OAM or the App. However, if you are setting up a new payment (i.e. you're paying someone for the first time) you'll need to do that via OAM. You can use the App to make any subsequent payments after this.

You just need the account number and sort code of the person you want to pay to process a Faster Payment. Watch this video for more details on how to send one.

If you're paying a company or Building Society, you might need to enter a unique reference for the payment to go through. The company you're sending the money to will be able to confirm where you can find this.

It can take up to two hours for a Faster Payment to show in the recipients account – but very often the payments arrive within minutes. You can make Faster Payments 24/7, 365 days a year.

We will save the details you enter so that it's quicker for you to send money to the same person again.

How to transfer funds from salary to card

The issue some customers faced when transferring funds from salary to card through OAM or the App is now resolved. You can now use our online services to move money to your card as normal.

Watch this video for more details on how to transfer funds.

Using the App? Just remember that your budgeting might stretch out over a few pages so make sure to scroll down to the bottom. Once you're happy, click 'Continue' and you'll get confirmation that money is on your card – it's then available for you to access straightaway.

To transfer money to your card from your salaries account, you'll need to have funds available or funds that are due into your account to cover any upcoming Direct Debits or standing orders. If you don't have enough available income coming in to cover your bills but still need to transfer money to your card, call a Money Manager on 0161 779 5000.

You can register for Online Account Management if you haven't already. Or download the thinkmoney App to manage your money on the go.
