When is National Cinema Weekend?
The event runs on Saturday 5 September 2026 and Sunday 6 September 2026 and £4 tickets are available at some of the UK's biggest chains on both days.
If you are not sure where your local flicks us, the official National Cinema Weekend website allows you to search for participating cinemas and film times near you before sending you to the cinema’s own booking page
How do you get £4 cinema tickets
You'll need to book through a participating cinema to get the £4 ticket.
Simply select a film showing on 5 or 6 September, choose the relevant screening and seats, and the discounted price should be applied before completing the booking.
Participating chains include:
Cineworld
Vue
Odeon
Showcase
Picturehouse
The offer is not necessarily available at every cinema or for every screening, so check the individual cinema’s listings before paying.
Book sooner rather than later because the deal may see popular films and family screenings sell out.
Which are the best films to watch for £4 this weekend?
The films available will depend on the cinema, but it's a great chance to see some of the top films out for less.
Here is what you could choose from:
The Odyssey
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is one of the major films being promoted for National Cinema Weekend. It is also available in premium formats at some cinemas, although those formats may cost more than the standard £4 ticket.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Marvel fans can look out for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is listed among the films available during the weekend. Check your local cinema for screening times and age guidance.
Toy Story 5
Families looking for an animated film should definitely check the listings for Toy Story 5, which is among the family-friendly titles being shown. It's an all-round crowd pleaser that kids and adults will both love.
Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie
If you have younger children, you can't go wrong with Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie. Check if it's offered near you.
Minions & Monsters
Minions & Monsters is another great family option if you've already seen Toy Story 5.
Are IMAX and other premium formats included?
The offer can include premium formats, but the price may be higher.
For example, Vue is offering £4 tickets for all films in all formats whereas Cineworld says standard tickets are £4, while IMAX tickets cost £6.
If you are booking a premium screening, check the final price.
How to save more on your cinema trip
The £4 ticket only covers admission, so the total cost can rise once you add food and travel.
Bring snacks if the cinema allows them and book directly with the cinema to avoid unnecessary third-party charges.
And choose a cinema that is easy to reach by public transport or walking.
Look out for any offers you can access, for example, Cineworld is also running a separate promotion in which customers spending £15 or more at its snacks counter can receive a scratchcard with a guaranteed prize, subject to the terms and availability.
