Morrisons is the latest supermarket to launch a price guarantee which covers more than 500 everyday products, promising shoppers they won't find the same items cheaper at Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Asda or Sainsbury's.

The 'Unbeatable Prices' commitment covers hundreds of essentials, including fruit and vegetables, meat, household products and popular family favourites.

Shoppers can look for the 'Unbeatable Prices' sign in Morrisons stores and online to see which products are covered by the guarantee.

But what does it mean if you're trying to cut the cost of your weekly shop?

Morrisons Unbeatable Prices: Which products are included?

The new commitment covers more than 500 products each week, including everyday essentials such as:

• Bananas

• Salad tomatoes

• Carrots

• Bread

• Butter

• Chicken fillets

• Bacon

• Pizzas

• Household essentials

• Fresh fruit and vegetables

The guarantee also extends to selected products sold through Morrisons' Market Street counters.

This includes fresh food such as fish and cheese, as well as products including Morrisons' in-store baked doughnuts.

The products covered by the promise will be clearly marked in stores and online, making them easier to identify when doing your shopping.

Is Morrisons cheaper than Aldi and Lidl?

Products under the Unbeatable Prices guarantee will be the same price or cheaper than the equivalent prices at Aldi and Lidl, as well as Tesco, Sainsbury's and Asda.

However, it does not mean every product at Morrisons will be cheaper than its competitors. And you could still find that items are more expensive if they are outside of the guarantee.

In July, Aldi, followed by Lidl were found to the cheapest supermarkets by consumer group Which?.

Morrisons was behind Sainsbury's and Tesco when the loyalty schemes were applied.

It remains to be seen if Morrison's price scheme will change the rankings.

Can you get Morrisons Unbeatable Prices online?

Morrisons says the Unbeatable Prices commitment is available when shopping in its supermarkets, online and through click & collect.

This means you can look for the products covered by the guarantee whether you're doing your weekly shop in-store or ordering your groceries online.

However, the offer isn't available through Morrisons Daily, Morrisons on Amazon, Deliveroo or other third-party partners.

Can Morrisons' price guarantee help cut your food bill?

If the products you regularly buy are included in the list, the guarantee could make it easier to compare prices when doing your weekly food shop.

Morrisons says the range includes staples such as bread, butter, chicken, bacon and vegetables, meaning shoppers could find some of their regular purchases covered.
