Supermarket freebies: 7 things you can get for nothing right now including free cake at Morrisons

Yes, food prices are rising - but a trip to the supermarket doesn't always need to be a hit to your wallet.

Tesco, Lidl and Morrisons all offer freebies to customers if you know where to look.

From free cake and children's meals to loyalty rewards and product giveaways, there plenty of offers you can claim right now to help save some cash.

Free cake at Morrisons

Morrisons is giving Baby & Toddler Club members a free cake when they buy any hot drink in a Morrisons Café.

The promotion, which normally runs on Mondays only, has been extended for a full week as part of the supermarket's Baby Event and runs from September 7 to September 13.

Customers just need to scan their Morrisons More Card to claim the offer.

Cakes available include Blueberry Muffins, Salted Caramel Brownies, Apple Crumble Tart and Biscoff Cheesecake.

You can join the Baby & Toddlers Club is available through the Morrisons More app or website.

Parents signed up to M&S Sparks and the Parent Hood programme can access selected café sessions where a free treat is also available with a hot drink. You can join the programme through your Sparks account.

Kids eat free meals

The summer holidays may be over but some supermarkets are still offering kids eat free meal deals,

Head to the cafe at Morrisons and spend £5 or more on an adult meal and children will get a free main, side and drink.

Asda also offers kids meals for just £1 throughout the year. Admittedly, it's not quite a freebie but is a great deal and way to get the kids fed when you're out and about.

Free samples at Tesco

When you're doing your online shop at Tesco, it's always worth a quick search for freebies you can add to your basket.

The supermarket regularly offers samples that you can add to your shop at no extra cost.

Simply type "sample" into the search bar and see what comes back. You can currently get a free sample can of Heineken alcohol free beer using this special hack.

Lidl freebies

Sign up to the Lidl Plus app and when you start shopping you will collect points.

You can then start exchanging points for rewards which includes free products and money-off vouchers through the Lidl Plus rewards section.

The exact rewards change regularly, shoppers can often redeem points for free bakery items, snacks, drinks and other grocery products. The scheme is free to join through the Lidl Plus app.

Get free yellow-sticker food at Tesco

Tesco has been trialling a scheme in some Express stores where yellow-sticker food that has not been sold by 9.30pm becomes free for anyone to take home.

It's not a nationwide offer and stock is subject to availability, but it's worth asking in your local store if they take part in the scheme.

Get your caffeine pick-me-up for free at Waitrose. You can get one free tea or coffee at the supermarket every day and there's no purchase needed.

Morrisons free fruit scheme

To help cut down on, Morrisons offers free fruit for kids that is within its sell-by date but in danger of not being sold.

The freebie is offered at store entrances so kids can pick what they'd like.
