Christmas can put a big strain on household budgets, as the cost of food, presents and socialising stacks up.

But shoppers could get extra money towards their Christmas shop by taking advantage of supermarket savings schemes.

Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Iceland, and Co-op are offer ways to build up Christmas savings or loyalty pots.

But you'll have to act quick with some schemes.

Tesco shoppers have until 25 October 2026 to qualify for this year's Clubcard Christmas Savers bonus.

Here's how the supermarket Christmas savings and bonus schemes work and how much you could get...

Tesco Clubcard Christmas bonus

Tesco Clubcard members can use the Christmas Savers scheme to put money aside for their festive shopping and receive a bonus voucher of up to £12 on top.

The amount you receive depends on how much you top up by the deadline.

  • Save £25 to £49: Get a £1.50 bonus

  • Save £50 to £99: Get a £3 bonus

  • Save £100 to £199: Get a £6 bonus

  • Save £200 to £360: Get a £12 bonus

The maximum amount of your own money you can put into the scheme for 2026 is £360. The deadline to opt in and top up is 11.59pm on Sunday, 25 October 2026.

Vouchers are then sent to shoppers in November Clubcard statements, just in time for Christmas.

Your savings and top-up vouchers are valid for two years, but the bonus voucher expires after three months, so make sure you don't forget to spend within the timeline.

Join the scheme through the Tesco app or the Clubcard website.

In the app, open the Clubcard section, find the Christmas Savers banner and select the option to start saving. On the website, sign in to your Clubcard account and look for Christmas Savers.

The bonus and top-up vouchers can't be exchanged for Clubcard Reward Partner deals.

Sainsbury's Nectar Christmas Challenge

If you're signed up to Nectar, you join in on its Count up to Christmas Challenge.

You'll need to opt in through the Nectar app by 3 November and then you'll then find tasks that you can complete to get bonus Nectar points.

The tasks are personalised to your shopping habits, and you can complete them online or in-store.

For example, you could get an extra 1,500 points when you collect 1,500 point between now and the end date.

Asda Christmas Savings Card

Asda shoppers can use the Christmas Savings Card to build up money for their festive shop and receive a bonus depending on the balance saved.

For Christmas 2026, the bonus levels are:

  • Save £30 to £79: Get £1 extra

  • Save £80 to £129: Get £4 extra

  • Save £130 to £179: Get £7 extra

  • Save £180 to £229: Get £10 extra

  • Save £230 to £279: Get £12 extra

  • Save £280 or more: Get £15 extra

The deadline to qualify for the 2026 bonus is 5pm on Sunday 15 November with the boost then added on Monday 16 November.

You can get a card and top it up in store or online.

The bonus expires two years after your last transaction, according to the current scheme information.

Separately, Asda Rewards members can also move eligible Asda Pounds from their main Cashpot into a Christmas Saver Cashpot.

For 2026, transfers into the Christmas Saver Cashpot must be made by 11.59pm on 15 November.

The maximum balance is £300, and the money must be spent between 20 November and 31 December 2026.

Iceland Christmas Bonus

Iceland's Christmas Bonus Saver allows you to get £15 extra when you top up your Bonus Club account with £100 on your Bonus Club account in one or more transactions before 5 November.

Your £15 Christmas bonus will then be added by 22 November and must be redeemed by 24th December.

You can also save throughout the year with the Bonus Club and for every £20 you save, you get a £1 Bonus which is added within 48 hours.

So if you save £100, you'd normally get £5 extra - on top of the Christmas £15 bonus that will be £20 extra towards your festive shop.

You can top up your Bonus Card at the checkout, online or in the Iceland app.

To open a Bonus Card, you'll need to register for an account with Iceland, you can do this online or in-store.
