Tesco is coming to Uber Eats and Deliveroo – here's what it means for shoppers

Tesco shoppers will soon be able to get Clubcard Prices and collect Clubcard points when ordering groceries through Uber Eats and Deliveroo for the first time.

The supermarket has announced a new partnership with the two delivery apps that will allow shoppers to order thousands of Tesco groceries, fresh food and household essentials without having to use Tesco's own app.

When is Tesco launching on Uber Eats and Deliveroo?

Tesco says it will launch on Uber Eats from August 2026 and Deliveroo will follow soon after later in the summer.

The apps offer special promotions that the supermarket is expected to take part in.

For example, Uber Eats regularly offers 50% off fruit and vegetables on a Monday through supermarket partners.

It also means, users of the delivery apps who have signed up to memberships - UberOne and Deliveroo Plus - will be able to save on delivery fees.

Will you get Clubcard Prices on Uber Eats and Deliveroo?

Shoppers ordering Tesco groceries through Uber Eats and Deliveroo will be able to access hundreds of Clubcard Prices and collect Clubcard points on eligible purchases.

The service is great for anyone who needs grocery essentials in a hurry and can't get to a shop.

However, even with Clubcard prices and points it's worth noting that items bought through delivery apps are often more expensive than if you bought in-store at the supermarket.

It's better value to stick to online shopping or in-store shopping where possible - rather than using Uver Eats or Deliveroo apps for regular weekly shops.

Is it cheaper to use Tesco Whoosh or Uber Eats and Deliveroo?

As well as launching on Uber Eats and Deliveroo, Tesco will continue to offer its rapid delivery service Whoosh.

The service doesn't quite reach as many customers as Uber Eats and Deliveroo, however, Tesco says around 70% of the population can access the service - compared to around 90% for Uber Eats.

You can book Whoosh through the Tesco app and get delivery within the hour or less, similar to Uber Eats and Deliveroo.

The delivery fee for Whoosh is a flat fee of £2.99 - and keep an eye out as sometimes the supermarket offers special promotions waiving the charge.

Uber Eats and Deliveroo fees are a little more complicated.

Uber Eats charges a service fee, bag fee, delivery fee - plus a small order fee for orders less than £15. Altogether, this can easily top £4 depending on what your ordering.

Deliveroo also splits out small order fees, service, delivery and bag charges, again exact costs will be dependent on what you're ordering.

Sometimes, Deliveroo or UberEats can also waive parts of the fee as part of special promotions.

If you have time, it's worth comparing the three platforms to find the cheapest fee based on your particular order and any promotions available at the time.

How to save money on online Tesco grocery deliveries

If you're planning to order groceries online, you could reduce the overall cost by getting organised and booking a shop in advance through Tesco online.

You'll pay the lowest fees of £2.50 by opting for a flexi-save slot which gives the supermarket a four-hour window to deliver your shopping.

These slots are sometimes available on the same day, so it's always worth checking before automatically opting for rapid delivery services, especially if you are ordering quite a few items.

This way you will also get the lowest prices on individual items.

You'll be able to collect Clubcard points and get Clubcard prices.
