How to get the best value out of your Lidl Plus rewards in 2026 - May updates! Introducing Lidl Plus Points

Update: Lidl Plus rewards are changing on 5th May - here’s what shoppers need to know
If you use the Lidl Plus app, there is a significant change to how rewards work. From 5 May 2026, the supermarket is replacing its old Coupon Plus system with a new points-based scheme called Lidl Plus Points.
In simple terms, instead of unlocking rewards by hitting monthly spending targets, you will now earn points every time you shop and choose how to spend them later.
That gives shoppers a bit more flexibility, but it also means the way you earn rewards will feel different from what you are used to.
How the new Lidl Plus Points system works
The new system is straightforward on paper:
You earn 1 point for every £1 you spend in store
Points usually appear in the app the next day
You can exchange points for money-off coupons or free products
Points stay valid for two years
Rewards typically need to be used within 30 days once selected
There will also be occasional promotions where you can earn extra points, for example double points on certain products or limited-time offers.
At launch, Lidl is offering 100 welcome points to customers who activate the feature in the app, which can be exchanged for a free item or discount.
What has happened to the old Coupon Plus rewards?
The previous system is being phased out.
Coupon Plus officially ended on 5 May 2026, and customers had until 4 May to reach any final spending targets under the old scheme.
That means rewards like the familiar "spend £250, get 10% off" structure are no longer the main way to earn savings. Instead, rewards will build gradually through points collected on everyday shopping.
Will shoppers save more or less under the new system?
The honest answer is: it depends on how you shop.
If you shop regularly at Lidl, the new points system may feel more flexible because you can earn rewards little and often, rather than waiting to hit a big monthly target.
But if you relied on larger milestone discounts, the change could feel less generous at first. The value now builds more slowly, and you may need to spend consistently to see the same level of savings.
This is not unusual. Many supermarkets are moving towards points-style rewards because they are easier to manage and spread savings over time.
A practical tip if you use Lidl Plus regularly
The biggest risk with any loyalty scheme is not using the rewards you have earned.
Points now last up to two years, which gives you breathing room, but once you convert them into a coupon, you usually have 30 days to use it.
That makes it worth getting into the habit of checking the app before you shop, especially if you are trying to stretch your grocery budget.
