Here's what you need to know...

The exact date has not been officially confirmed by Sainsbury's, but it is expected to launch in the second half of October.

This is when the supermarket has traditionally launched the sale and Christmas 2026 is expected to be no different.

You can usually expect the sale to run for around one week so you'll need to move fast when it comes around to get the best discounts on toys from some of the biggest brands.

Argos is part of Sainsbury's (though it has been sold) and will keep operating during stores and currently has 25% off some popular toys including Paw Patrol and Chad Valley wooden toy sets with online code TOYS25.

The Big Red event is also running with up to 30% off selected toys.

How much can shoppers save in the Sainsbury's 2026 toy sale?

You can expect to save as much as 50% on some popular toys during the sale, making it well worth marking out the event in your diary.

You can already make top savings of up to 30% as part of Argos' Big Red event which includes popular Lego and Bluey items.

Is the Sainsbury's toy sale available online?

The Sainsbury’s toy sale is usually an in-store event with discounted prices generally not available through the supermarket's website.

However, it's worth looking out for discounts through the website especially Argos, which frequently offers special codes for discounts.

When does Aldi's toy sale start?

It's not just Sainsbury's running toy sales.

Aldi is known for its popular wooden toy Specialbuys. This year the event starts on 8 October and includes wooden play kitchens as well as vanity units at great prices.

Lidl is also running its wooden toy sale on the same day with role-play toys, books and wooden play equipment at competitive prices.

Once these Specialbuys and Middle Aisle promotions are gone, they're gone so to your nearest store sooner rather than later for the best deals.

Should you buy toys now or wait for Black Friday?

Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday on 30 November, with retailers offering some great deals in the run-up and on that weekend.

It's impossible to know if prices offered in special sales will beat Black Friday offers.

However, you could consider buying now in the sales if the toy is already on your child's Christmas list and it's a genuine low price compared with other retailers.
