Is contactless a secure way of paying for my goods?
Yes. You can feel confident when using your contactless card as it uses the latest secure encryption technology.
Your card will also come with an in-built security check. This means that from time-to-time, you will have to enter your PIN to verify that you're the genuine cardholder.
However, if you lose your card or think it might have been stolen, you should contact us straight away. If your card is used fraudulently, you won't be left out of pocket and will get all of your money back.
What will happen if I lose my card, or it is stolen?
Lock it immediately using online banking or the app. This will prevent anyone who gets their hands on your card from spending your money.
If you find your card, you can unlock it and start using it as normal. If you can't find your card or it's been stolen, report it through the app or online banking, then we'll cancel your card and arrange a new one for you.
If any transactions have been made on your card since it was lost or stolen, we have a specialist team who can look into getting the funds back for you.
If I carry a few contactless cards in my purse/wallet, will I pay for my shopping twice?
As card machines can only ever process a transaction with one card at a time, you cannot pay for the same purchase on two cards.
It’s always a good idea to take your card out of your wallet/purse before touching the reader, to make sure you're using the right card for the transaction.
If you don't take the card out, the wrong card could take the transaction or you could be affected by ‘card clash’, where the reader doesn’t know which card to take the payment from so is unable to process the payment.
Can I use contactless at an ATM?
No, the contactless feature works for point of sale transactions only.
Do I get charged for using contactless?
No, we will not charge you for making contactless payments.
