How do I upload my ID?

If we need to see your ID to complete your application, we’ll have sent you an email or text asking you to upload it. You can use your phone, tablet or computer to upload your ID.

  • Go to the link in the email or text we sent you.
  • Log in using your date of birth and postcode.
  • Select which type of ID you would like to upload.
  • If you don’t have a driving licence or passport, click ‘I don’t have any of these documents’.
  • Read the instructions on the page carefully to check which images you need to upload.
  • Press ‘add photo’ to upload your ID.
  • If you are using a phone or tablet, choose an image from your phone or use your camera to take a photo of your ID.
  • If you are using a computer, select a file from your computer.
  • Double check you’ve uploaded the correct images.
  • Press submit and you’re all done!

Why do I have to upload my ID?

We need to check that it is really you who has applied for an account, so sometimes we'll ask to see some documents to verify your identity and address.

My document has more than one page, how do I add additional pages?

Please read the instructions carefully to check which images of your ID you need to upload.

If you upload one of the following documents as proof of your address, we will need to see all of the pages:

  • Bank, mortgage or credit card statements
  • Tenancy agreement (students only)

Press ‘add file’ to begin uploading pages of your document. Once you have added the first page, another ‘add file’ button will appear underneath.

Add additional pages by pressing ‘add file’ until you have uploaded all the pages of your document, including any details on the back.

Press ‘done’ once you have added all the pages and a green ‘submit documents’ button will appear. Hit this button to finish uploading your ID.

What if I upload the wrong document?

If you upload the wrong document by mistake, you will need to upload your ID again.

We’ll get in touch to let you know what to do next if we can’t accept the documents you’ve uploaded.

Uploading unsuitable documents slows down your application, so check that your ID is on the list of documents we accept and you’ve followed our tips to get your ID upload right.

Please use the upload portal to add images of your documents only. Don’t upload any inappropriate, offensive or explicit content.

If my internet disconnects while I’m uploading my ID, will I need to send it again?

You need to be connected to the internet to upload your ID.

If you lose internet connection while uploading your ID, you will need to start again.

How will I know if the ID upload has worked?

If your ID upload has worked, you will see a message on your screen confirming that we have received your ID after you press ‘submit’.

Is uploading my ID secure?

Yes, your ID is safe with us. Your photos will be held in our secure online upload portal for 30 days, and is then deleted.

We will retain copies of the images for record keeping and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

We also recommend that you permanently delete the image of your ID from your phone or computer immediately after uploading it.
